On the peak of the Castle That Never Was, Maleficent looked over the expanse of the dark city, swarming with heartless and pooling darkness. Not only had she conquered this world with little effort, the rest of the worlds would soon be hers for the taking. She had spent long enough preparing for this moment.

It was time.

Her red nails circled the orb sitting atop her staff as she began to chant in a language no world here would ever know. The orb clouded to the blackest of blacks and soon, the sky followed suit. Maleficent's eyes gleamed over into an unnerving yellow, as if a beacon for the darkness flooding in through the sky. It roared out in that same foreign language, answering Maleficent's call. The city shook, as if the buildings themselves shivered in fear. Unflinching, the dark fairy stood and answered: she would warp reality to fit her design. And so that darkness granted her desire. It filled her with power and the strength of the darkness.

Yet for all her sureness, the darkness swarmed and threatened her heart. It was only by sheer strength of will that she retained some semblance of control. Though the intent was still the same, the action spiraled out of her grasp. Instead of only opening and altering a reality where she assumed control and the residents here belonged to her, the tendrils of darkness reached out and tore open rifts in time and space all over Star Kingdom from the infinite number of other realities out there. In their wake, they left tall oval-shaped distortions, easily missed by the naked eye if one wasn't paying attention. With no regard for Maleficent whatsoever, the darkness withdrew only when the deal was finished. Drained of most of her strength, Maleficent gasped and crumpled on the balcony, her staff clattering out of her grip and rolling to the edge.

It had been much too close that time. She needed to gather herself and find another way to fix this, but oh-- she would fix it.
