It's the Hellos not the Goodbyes, that I'm interested in [OPEN]

WHO: Pegasus ([personal profile] mister_foppish) and YOU.
LOCATION: Traverse Town to...Wherever he wanders/gets tugged along to.
TIME: TODAY the 23rd until...the 28th? Or whenever.
WHAT: Pegasus goes out to clear his head and ends up meeting new and old acquaintances? Possible world exploration.
RATING: PG-13? Depressing elements/Could be trouble. Or could not! Depends where it goes. So come cheer Peggy up?

No sunlight is a dreary thing to endear after a while. Which was why, after a time, he'd made a decision. To explore...After all, you can't make much progress if you don't know what kind of place you're dealing with. Pegasus was tired of being confined indoors, in such a small space, so he had decided...Kaiba's kindness was all well and good, but it was time to go find his own way. This was going to be a beginning of his choosing, this time.

His time alone since the Mist incident had given him much time for reflection regarding his past, and he was tired of thinking about it now. What was there to be done? It hadn't even been real. But were that true his heart shouldn't have weighed so heavily. So what could he do...? Aside from find a way to survive, as it had been advised to him before.

He's out on the streets now, making his way down the main road of Traverse Town* for the time being. Who knows where he could end up?

[*ooc: General open post! New/old CR welcome. Come bother him/take him out somewhere/have fun/do some exploring :3]

People who flirt are not entirely unknown to him, but for a guy to be so open about it to another man is... well, that can be a bit dangerous in the time he is from. Though perhaps he just misheard or misunderstood what had been meant? It wouldn't be the first time that had happened since his arrival here. He chose to say nothing about that for now.

"Pegasus? Like the mythical horse?"

Then again he had met a God so maybe this animal also wasn't as mythical here as he had been led to believe.

Leonardo bowed politely with a hand on his chest as he too introduced himself, going with the shortened version of his name this time since so many people appeared to know him better by it.

"And I am Leonardo da Vinci. è un piacere conoscerti."

[(It is a pleasure to meet you.)]

Ah yes, the double standard, he would be familiar with that too. Of course that really only worked out for you if you didn't have enemies, which unfortunately for him, he had quite a few of. Caution on that matter was paramount for him.

Such a reaction! He had seen surprise at the mention of his name, even happiness, but sheer unbridled glee was totally unexpected. It was very highly flattering even if he did find himself being viciously shaken by the Pegasus-turned-fanboy.

"Grazie," now how to retrieve his hands without being rude... "You really are too kind."

He had achieved a level of notoriety in his time but the people of this age were almost always far more enthusiastic about his work. It really never stopped amazing him.

"Especially for another artist to be interested in my work, it is a great honor."

He'd love to respond but... ooouuf! What a tight hug! He finds himself quite unable to speak as all of the air is driven out of his lungs by the force of the embrace.

"Genio...?" He manages to squeak out despite the bear hug.

Again what a very kind compliment it was! But, due to the situation he couldn't say much more. Just getting enough air to breath was hard enough without trying to speak as well.
This was like meeting a long lost friend or someone that hadn't seen him in forever more than it was like meeting a stranger for the first time. People from Pegasus's world must be very friendly.

S'ok ^_^

I don't know if you can even call it partially secret at this point. Pegasus had really left no doubt that he was a huge fan. He could speak again once he had recovered from the surprise bear hug.

"Grazie, truly I have never met anyone as... enthusiastic about my work."

Except possibly that crazy lady with the sack whom he had also met in these worlds, but better not to bring her up lest she should appear again as if summoned like a demonic genie. Washu had made an impression too.

"I believe I will take you up on that offer."

Understood. ^^ It does get in the way sometimes.

"Surprised, si, but you didn't scare me."

Well... maybe a little. One doesn't expect to be hugged during a first meeting, but that was all harmless enough. Pegasus just seemed really friendly and very excitable!

"Just a moment," Leonardo pulled out his communicator to send a quick message to his moogle apprentice, the one who had so rudely bumped into Pegasus earlier, warning the little guy that even though he had carried all that stuff up to the top of the tower that it would not actually be used until later. As you can imagine... the moogle was thrilled to hear this... but that is one of the hazards of working with Leonardo. One never knows when work will really begin or when something more interesting will appear to distract him.

"There, that should do it. If I am heading for out then my new apprentice had better take the time to find something as well. Now..."
Leonardo smiled and looked back at Pegasus, "Where is this place you have in mind?"

He likes you too Pegasus! ♥

Walking down the street with a handsome guy who is truly interested in your work, this is absolutely nothing to complain about! Even if Pegasus was a little more forward than he was used to, he seemed nice, and the conversation so far had proven itself very interesting.

"There is a place here that serves Italiano?"

He was no where near as familiar with the area as Pegasus was and this was great news to him!

"Then no wonder you suggested it. That sounds absolutely wonderful."

Not what he was used to? That was an understatement. The food seemed normal enough, there were many things on the menu that even in their modernized state he recognized. But, Pegasus being so... social. In his time that might not have worked out well. He himself had been thrown into prison on suspicion of that. Here though Pegasus seemed perfectly accepted.
His host carrying on like that, being granted access to such a nice table, and fitting in just like he belonged made Leonardo question if what he thought might be happening actually was. Maybe he was just reading too much into things... that had to be it.

"I doubt the kind of wine I used to buy is even still being produced."

For all he knew that winery had gone out of business ages ago.

"But, I'm sure anything they have will be fine. Just order whatever you like?"

True enough, who could really tell? Leonardo surely didn't know him well enough to be able to judge his actions since they really had only just met.

"You must be quite the connoisseur."

A wine like this with so many layered flavors would have been far above Leonardo's meager budget back in Italy. Wines of this nature were reserved for the rich and the elite, the ones who could afford things like this, while less affluent people like himself could only sample wines like this if they were fortunately enough to attend a patron's party.
But at least here in Star Kingdom that situation had been some what eased. People were far more willing to actually pay for their commissions.

"We can usually afford no more than a simple table wine."

That had been what he had been thinking. Once again Pegasus had surprised him with something entirely unexpected.

Good, if you have some too then my typos will be less noticable. :P

Since his arrival here so many people had treated him this way. Granted not as flamboyantly as Pegasus, but with the rich food and seeming awe to just be around him. It was all very highly flattering! But he still wondered...
At Pegasus's urging Leonardo did as he was asked and took a sip from the wine. There was no way he could have told the year of the wine or anything very sophisticated about it, but to him the flavor was absolutely lovely!

"Grazie, it is as wonderful as I thought it might be."

Maybe now would be the best time to ask.

"You are treating this as if it was a very special occasion, I know you said meeting me was a treat but I was wondering... Have I really had that much of an impact on the world?"

It was a strange question, he knew it was but...

"I don't mean just with my paintings. I do enjoy painting but I have always wanted my work to have more meaning for the world."

Putting Pegasus on the spot but he was very curious if his life, his inventions, or even just his notes might have influenced future world events.

"I assume you must be from a period of time after mine so maybe you would know the answer."

Unaware and completely flabbergasted that his work had really had such a lasting impact.

"I expected the paintings to last but the rest..."

He was floored! Even if some of the terms Pegasus had used were strange to him (a helicopter?) the mere fact that any of his ideas had survived was impressive to him. It made more sense now why there were so many people enthusiastic to meet him. It wasn't just because of his paintings but also due to all of these other ideas. Amazing!

"I had always hoped that maybe something would have lasted, but I never expected that much would. Was it because of the notebooks?"

Even written in that chicken scratch backwards Italian of his Leonardo had hoped that those notebooks might come to some use even if many of those ideas were too advanced for the time he was in and too dangerous to allow any one person to have.

"I don't know that they would have survived but I did keep several notebooks full of sketches, notes and other little things. I had the vain hope that some day I might publish them."
true_renaissance_man: I'm sorry! I don't remember where I found this one! (In the sun)

It took a while, and a little more wine for that to sink in. Although Hermione had said much the same thing when she was asked about it, the fame was still something of a surprise. He had achieved notoriety in the time he was from, his paintings were well thought of and his work sought after, but fame through centuries? Who could imagine!

"Thank you for telling me."

It occurred though that Pegasus knew so much about him while he knew very little about Pegasus.

"You said you were a painter? What kind of work did you do in the place you came from?"

Tell Leonardo about yourself Pegsus. He wants to know more about his charming host.

Food was nice, but curiosity always trumped it for Leonardo. Apprentices had to keep an eye on him as he often could become too involved in some project and forget to eat entirely and right now the subject of Pegasus was by far more interesting than the menu sitting in front of him.

"Some one powerful enough to run an entire company could have become any of those things."

He could see it. Pegasus did have a regal bearing about him but his flamboyant nature might have gotten him into trouble politically. Not that Leonardo understood politics all that well. He did try to avoid political matters when possible.

"An inventor, you said. I would be interested to know what kinds of things you designed."

Yes, Pegasus, if you actually want dinner you are going to have to refocus your companion.
