It's the Hellos not the Goodbyes, that I'm interested in [OPEN]
WHO: Pegasus (
mister_foppish) and YOU.
LOCATION: Traverse Town to...Wherever he wanders/gets tugged along to.
TIME: TODAY the 23rd until...the 28th? Or whenever.
WHAT: Pegasus goes out to clear his head and ends up meeting new and old acquaintances? Possible world exploration.
RATING: PG-13? Depressing elements/Could be trouble. Or could not! Depends where it goes. So come cheer Peggy up?
No sunlight is a dreary thing to endear after a while. Which was why, after a time, he'd made a decision. To explore...After all, you can't make much progress if you don't know what kind of place you're dealing with. Pegasus was tired of being confined indoors, in such a small space, so he had decided...Kaiba's kindness was all well and good, but it was time to go find his own way. This was going to be a beginning of his choosing, this time.
His time alone since the Mist incident had given him much time for reflection regarding his past, and he was tired of thinking about it now. What was there to be done? It hadn't even been real. But were that true his heart shouldn't have weighed so heavily. So what could he do...? Aside from find a way to survive, as it had been advised to him before.
He's out on the streets now, making his way down the main road of Traverse Town* for the time being. Who knows where he could end up?
[*ooc: General open post! New/old CR welcome. Come bother him/take him out somewhere/have fun/do some exploring :3]

"Pegasus? Like the mythical horse?"
Then again he had met a God so maybe this animal also wasn't as mythical here as he had been led to believe.
Leonardo bowed politely with a hand on his chest as he too introduced himself, going with the shortened version of his name this time since so many people appeared to know him better by it.
"And I am Leonardo da Vinci. è un piacere conoscerti."
[(It is a pleasure to meet you.)]
1/2
His smile grows wider, too, when he takes note of that cautiousness. Well, clearly he needed to loosen up a little!
"Yes~s!!"
"Ooooh, Italiano?"
Italian men could be a lot of fun!
"....da Vinci?"
Stops in his tracks, taking in his appearance anew. Wait a moment...He couldn't be...! Staring so hard. Oh, oh he can see it now! But, really?!!?!
2/2
Watch Pegasus turn into a fanboy. It's quite amusing to see, for he quite forgot himself and shook both of Leonardo's hands.
"Oh, this is such a surprise! ♥"
no subject
Such a reaction! He had seen surprise at the mention of his name, even happiness, but sheer unbridled glee was totally unexpected. It was very highly flattering even if he did find himself being viciously shaken by the Pegasus-turned-fanboy.
"Grazie," now how to retrieve his hands without being rude... "You really are too kind."
He had achieved a level of notoriety in his time but the people of this age were almost always far more enthusiastic about his work. It really never stopped amazing him.
"Especially for another artist to be interested in my work, it is a great honor."
no subject
Please forgive his enthusiasm, sir. He simply cannot help his excitement! It's not that he doesn't possess a sense of self-control, but you're THE Leonardo da Vinci whose paintings he has admired since he was a child!
He calms a little enough just to hold his hands fondly for a moment, then pulling him in for an all-too-friendly embrace that may have been a little too tight but...! Ooooh, he simply got a little lost in the moment! The romance of it all...! If ever there were historical figures in his life that he'd have wanted to meet, Leonardo would have been in his top five!
"It's absolute genius! ♥♥♥"
no subject
"Genio...?" He manages to squeak out despite the bear hug.
Again what a very kind compliment it was! But, due to the situation he couldn't say much more. Just getting enough air to breath was hard enough without trying to speak as well.
This was like meeting a long lost friend or someone that hadn't seen him in forever more than it was like meeting a stranger for the first time. People from Pegasus's world must be very friendly.
So sorry for my lateness ;w;
Only after a little while when the other has trouble breathing does he muster control of himself long enough to take a step back and let him breathe.
"Why, it's a cause for celebration! We should have dinner together. It'd be on me!"
After all, what's a little introduction without a little wine to soothe things over?
"I'm so happy to meet you, really."
The fact that you're you has him titillated!
S'ok ^_^
"Grazie, truly I have never met anyone as... enthusiastic about my work."
Except possibly that crazy lady with the sack whom he had also met in these worlds, but better not to bring her up lest she should appear again as if summoned like a demonic genie. Washu had made an impression too.
"I believe I will take you up on that offer."
the work murders me as usual xD;
He leans forwards a bit as if confiding in him, offering one of his most winsome smiles.
"Well, I hope I haven't scared you quite so soon in our first meeting! I simply couldn't help it. Yes, I am, I absolutely am.
"Oh, that makes me so...happy! ♥"
The man of his dreams!...In a fashion, at least.
"I think I know just the place, too! If you care to follow me, that is."
Understood. ^^ It does get in the way sometimes.
Well... maybe a little. One doesn't expect to be hugged during a first meeting, but that was all harmless enough. Pegasus just seemed really friendly and very excitable!
"Just a moment," Leonardo pulled out his communicator to send a quick message to his moogle apprentice, the one who had so rudely bumped into Pegasus earlier, warning the little guy that even though he had carried all that stuff up to the top of the tower that it would not actually be used until later. As you can imagine... the moogle was thrilled to hear this... but that is one of the hazards of working with Leonardo. One never knows when work will really begin or when something more interesting will appear to distract him.
"There, that should do it. If I am heading for out then my new apprentice had better take the time to find something as well. Now..."
Leonardo smiled and looked back at Pegasus, "Where is this place you have in mind?"
Backtagging this forever because Leo = ♥
"They serve Italiano, and il vino if you catch my drift." Pegasus chuckles at that, all the more merry at the prospect of company. Kaiba hasn't been very kind to him as of late, anyhow. And he was tired of being alone in the house.
He likes you too Pegasus! ♥
"There is a place here that serves Italiano?"
He was no where near as familiar with the area as Pegasus was and this was great news to him!
"Then no wonder you suggested it. That sounds absolutely wonderful."
Mmmm so glad~!
"Good! Table for twooooo~" He smirks to the host and winks—they at least seem to know each other enough that Pegasus can seat himself.
And he tugs him off to the private corner, with the best atmosphere and even a little performance floor for the violin players/music.
"Might not exactly be what you're used to, but I will make sure they give you the best service there is. Now what kind of wine do you prefer?"
no subject
His host carrying on like that, being granted access to such a nice table, and fitting in just like he belonged made Leonardo question if what he thought might be happening actually was. Maybe he was just reading too much into things... that had to be it.
"I doubt the kind of wine I used to buy is even still being produced."
For all he knew that winery had gone out of business ages ago.
"But, I'm sure anything they have will be fine. Just order whatever you like?"
no subject
As he's looking over his menu he eyes Leonardo for a moment, half-considering what a man like him would like.
"OH? Are you too sure about that? Come now, you can tell me. I promise I won't even bite! ♥ But if you want my recommendation....Hmmmm. It has to be a red wine, to be certain. Waiter, please let us try this one, yes? The Chianti Riserva. I think you'll enjoy it!"
The waiter in question was going off to accommodate them, bringing back a pair of glasses and the bottle, uncorking it and then pouring them both half full.
Its flavors may indeed be quite pleasing, given its distinctly fruity bouquet with dark cherry overtones that are balanced with hints of vanilla and cinnamon. Its flavor reflected the fruit of the bouquet and is supported by balanced tannins. He will notice flavors of concentrated black fruit, plums, and ripe cherry fruit with spicy undertones all balanced by fine soft tannins and a full mineral finish.
He swills the glass gently once it's poured, letting the wine aerate expertly.
no subject
"You must be quite the connoisseur."
A wine like this with so many layered flavors would have been far above Leonardo's meager budget back in Italy. Wines of this nature were reserved for the rich and the elite, the ones who could afford things like this, while less affluent people like himself could only sample wines like this if they were fortunately enough to attend a patron's party.
But at least here in Star Kingdom that situation had been some what eased. People were far more willing to actually pay for their commissions.
"We can usually afford no more than a simple table wine."
That had been what he had been thinking. Once again Pegasus had surprised him with something entirely unexpected.
;; swirls^ stupid missing typoes craiiiiii
He'll merely offer him a winning smile, to that, in reply.
And poor little Leonardo, Pegasus only saw it fit to spoil him rotten. That's what you're supposed to do with people you really like, after all.
"Poor dear. ♥ Well, don't worry! I'll take care of you, sweetie. Tonight you'll dine like a prince! After all, it's only fair. Please, won't you have some?"
Good, if you have some too then my typos will be less noticable. :P
At Pegasus's urging Leonardo did as he was asked and took a sip from the wine. There was no way he could have told the year of the wine or anything very sophisticated about it, but to him the flavor was absolutely lovely!
"Grazie, it is as wonderful as I thought it might be."
Maybe now would be the best time to ask.
"You are treating this as if it was a very special occasion, I know you said meeting me was a treat but I was wondering... Have I really had that much of an impact on the world?"
It was a strange question, he knew it was but...
"I don't mean just with my paintings. I do enjoy painting but I have always wanted my work to have more meaning for the world."
Putting Pegasus on the spot but he was very curious if his life, his inventions, or even just his notes might have influenced future world events.
"I assume you must be from a period of time after mine so maybe you would know the answer."
<33
He takes up his own glass for another sip of wine, immersing himself in the wonderfully flavourful bouquet.
"If...you truly wish to know, then I shall tell you."
There's musing, and a moment's consideration as he thinks it over, his silvery hair glowing from the candle in the middle of their table from his stillness.
"...Truly, your work becomes a marvel for all men to think and ponder on. Your genius becomes a thing of legend. Your inventions become....reality. Even centuries later, your mark on the world has not faded in past or recent memory.
Your ideas..."
He trails off, then in a hushed voice while slightly leaning forward continued: "were vastly ahead of their own time. I've no doubt that you in effect, conceptually invented many things which is used in my time. The helicopter, military devices, the use of concentrated solar power....you're unaware of it, aren't you? How important your work is to many people.
Not many can claim that, at all."
no subject
"I expected the paintings to last but the rest..."
He was floored! Even if some of the terms Pegasus had used were strange to him (a helicopter?) the mere fact that any of his ideas had survived was impressive to him. It made more sense now why there were so many people enthusiastic to meet him. It wasn't just because of his paintings but also due to all of these other ideas. Amazing!
"I had always hoped that maybe something would have lasted, but I never expected that much would. Was it because of the notebooks?"
Even written in that chicken scratch backwards Italian of his Leonardo had hoped that those notebooks might come to some use even if many of those ideas were too advanced for the time he was in and too dangerous to allow any one person to have.
"I don't know that they would have survived but I did keep several notebooks full of sketches, notes and other little things. I had the vain hope that some day I might publish them."
no subject
He thinks for a moment, reflecting on what he did remember from reading about Leonardo's work.
"As I recall, the notebooks for which you are indeed quite famous were quite the phenomena when historians first discovered them...But within your own lifetime you become quite renowned...And are even still, centuries later."
no subject
"Thank you for telling me."
It occurred though that Pegasus knew so much about him while he knew very little about Pegasus.
"You said you were a painter? What kind of work did you do in the place you came from?"
Tell Leonardo about yourself Pegsus. He wants to know more about his charming host.
no subject
"Oh, it was my pleasure."
Pegasus purred, smiling pleasantly over at his new-found friend. That second response does rather surprise him, though.
"Me? Oh, I can't imagine it's nearly so interesting as yourself, but I suppose if you truly wished to know I can oblige you. Ye~es, I am! I do....That is, it's what I dreamed of doing ever since I was younger. But, it turns out I went on a slightly different path.
Painting itself is not exactly my main occupation but I do incorporate it into my work. The only reason I don't do it all the time is because I have many different interests. And, I turned to the business world, pursuing my passions. I'm an inventor, and a merchant, I suppose, in your time, you would say.
Like the Medici family, though my trade is in the arts and entertainment. ♥ Like an actor, only…oh, I suppose a little different. I'm more or less the head of my own company…Industrial Illusions! CEO, President. But what is that equivalent in your time…? Lord? Prince? Oh, I don't know! Ha, ha~"
no subject
"Some one powerful enough to run an entire company could have become any of those things."
He could see it. Pegasus did have a regal bearing about him but his flamboyant nature might have gotten him into trouble politically. Not that Leonardo understood politics all that well. He did try to avoid political matters when possible.
"An inventor, you said. I would be interested to know what kinds of things you designed."
Yes, Pegasus, if you actually want dinner you are going to have to refocus your companion.
/sob horrible typos/
A classy affair, those court fashions and wonderful vivacity of Italian dealings. Had Pegasus lived during that time he would've made quite the stir indeed, no doubt about that! Leonardo's intuition wasn't wrong.
"I'll have to show you some time, darling...Of course, I only have a little example of my work here with me but...I don't mind sharing."
Dinner? Who needs food when you've got wine and good company? He's finding the other's company to be quite pleasant as is!
