[ in the spirit of halloween, masane had gone out in costume and pestered the poor residents of traverse town for candy and other sweet treats. it's what the holiday was about, after all... or at least what it had become about. but that didn't matter! because as the day drew to a close she couldn't help but squeal in absolute delight. ]

[ halloween town! ]

[ she was finally going to get to go there and on the best possible night. she'd told everybody to meet up at the traverse town gummi docks at six, sharp, and as it drew closer to time she scrambled to get ready. it was almost a relief, actually, that she didn't have to bother with a costume... though she was still scared skeptical about the town choosing it. oh well--! yolo. ]

[ panting as she reached the dock, she meandered over to a bench to sit. hopefully everybody would arrive soon so they could start the fun! ]

[ and she's got no time to recover as another ghoul is attacking her. it takes a lot to suppress the blade as she throws herself against eagle. coiling her arms around his middle she spins around and faces him to the creature. ] aah! Eeeaaaagle! [ the both of you SUCK! ]

[Eagle placed a supportive hand on Masane's back when she crashed into him for comfort but he didn't flinch as she had. Even if it had been an actual attack he felt as if he still had the edge. Besides, there wasn't very much that truly scared him. ]

What?!

[He was still surprised to have been spun around like that but after getting a look at the creature... ]

I don't think you have anything to worry about Masane.

[His tone was lighthearted, even a bit teasing. It was adorable that she spooked so easily!]

I don't think that particular ghost would be hostile.

[They are boys, you have to watch out for mischief.]

[By the time Mokuba had regained his footing, he'd dropped the scythe safely to the side. With both hands he grasped the lip of his hood and carefully pulled it back just enough to peer up at the too]

Woah! Wicked costume, Eagle. [In all honesty he'd recoiled a bit when he'd caught sight of Eagle too but when he heard the man speak he recognized the voice.]

Oh- uh oops. Sorry about that Masane. [He replied sheepishly, when he realized that he'd only served to spook her more] I guess we're all a little on edge here. [Mokuba took the opportunity to get a better look at the place. It was genuinely spooky here.. and some of the residents looked down right gruesome with all the stitches and all. Were those costumes too?]

[ and that hand is appreciated. shuddering against him as she keeps her face pressed into his back she simpers. oh man! this place is not doing it for her. or maybe it is. she'd been looking for scary. ] ...what do you mean? [ as eagle tells her that it's alright she pokes her head from behind him all while considering shoving him for being a meanyfais to see that the little reaper is, in fact, mokuba. ]

... [ gdi. ]

It's fine. [ she moves to stand at eagle's side as she folds her arms across her chest. ] I wasn't all that scared, ... [ but don't do it again! else she might not make it through the evening. ] uh, Yeah, ...seems that way. I really didn't think this place would be like this. I sort of thought it would be a childish kind of spooky, y'know, ...

Why would you think it would be childish?

[Some one doesn't know Halloween was meant to be a children's holiday. She had said a few things about it but some how that hadn't registered. ]

Your outfit was very convincing too Mokuba. I wonder if even your brother might have been frightened when you appeared.

[Seeing Kaiba scared would be a treat! He always tried to be so unflappable. ]

[Mokuba had shared Masane's thinking that this place would be more for children, but he was beginning to question that thought. There was a darker side to Halloween]

[He said to Eagle but.. yeah that was kinda silly to ask. He'd already scared Masane] I think it would take more than this to scare my brother. [Seto is stubborn like that XD and awesome]

[Mokuba retrieved the scythe] Really Masane? You seemed pretty scared to me.

It's the Disney motif... [ she's not sure she can explain it but she's going to try. ] and the fact that, well, Halloween is supposed to be fun! not dangerous. [ an indignant huff. she's also annoyed that she's the only one being frightened here! ]

...and this is certainly the first Halloween I've had where two of my best friends tried to maim me! [ maybe not literally. but she feels figuratively maimed. fff. idk. ]

The two of you definitely look like you fit in. [ she gives herself a once over. ] I don't think I fit in much. I'd much rather be in my chocolate factory. [ and she twirls her cane with a laugh. ]

Eh. [ nearly drops it. shut up mokuba. ] Heh. I... maybe a little. But I mean it wasn't... I knew... [ starts to turn flush from embarrassment. ] Let's just get moving! ...we have got a lot of candy to collect. [ she's just going to brush past them and take point. ]

Nothing has been truly dangerous yet, it is just a little spooky.

[And he smiles at Masane, agreeing with Mokuba's assessment... not that you can see that behind the mask. ]

But, maybe you don't like spooky things?

[Sure though, there was candy to be had! Eagle follows after Masane just as soon as Mokuba does, essentially taking up the rear.]

So all of the houses here might have candy to give out?

[Oh you hadn't been the only one frightened Masane. Mokuba had been plenty scared when you shrieked in the first place but you were too busy flailing to notice]

Yeah, Masane. [He agreed with Eagle] It's Halloween, everyone is going to be trying to scare us. [Talking like a real know-it-all. Halloween Town was probably a ghost town in any other month... uh... no pun intended. Even with putting on a bold front, he was kinda nervous himself]

I don't know. Willie Wonka had his scarey moments. [That whole tunnel thing. What was that?! There's no earthly way of knowing...]

[ He suppressed a laugh for Masane's benefit and started walking toward all the potential treat dispensers.] They should though some places give out apples instead, or toys.

[ and that's good to know. a shame you'll not be coming forward with that information. lol. it'd def. make her feel better. ]

... [ don't gang up on her! ] It's not that. [ a huff and she folds her arms. it's not like you'd been attacked. ] ...yeah, well, at least those kids didn't have to... [ actually they all had it pretty bad so, you know what, nevermind. ] It doesn't matter. It's not like the factory is here. [ but despite the creepy tunnel, the oompa loompas, and the almost death! the factory would be cool. ]

Ew, apples, ...let's make sure to trick those houses. I just want lots and lots of candy!

Unless they turn out to be caramel or candy apples. I wouldn't mind one of them.

[Anything less, doomed! Fortunately for the first house they are giving out snack size potato chip bags. While this is not candy its a unique enough offering that Eagle decides not to trick them. ]
